The Role:
The Senior People Business Partner is a key member of our Global People Team and will support our non-tech functions including Sales, Marketing and G&A. We are looking for an experienced Senior BP who is data-savvy, commercially driven, can be a key strategic and thought partner, can creatively problem solve and most of all, embody partnership and collaboration. Delivery expectations centre around supporting and driving critical business initiatives, developing talent strategies and HR programs for Aiven’s rapidly growing business teams.
In order to be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous scale-up experience. We need people who understand the hyper-growth environment and comfortably flex their style between strategic and tactical. You can influence, build trust/relationships and implement sensibly. We can promise you will be rewarded with deep and meaningful impact!
Our People Team spans the globe, and we work collaboratively across our main offices and smaller hubs as well as our remote communities. For this role, our preference is that this person is based in either the UK or Ireland. You can still work remotely but there are times when we will want you to travel to our locations across Europe.

- Provide input into the overall People org strategy and roadmap. Align functional plans with global HR programs and customise where functionally needed.
Coach, Mentor, Role Model
- Coach and facilitate the leadership team to build org capability and help leaders think and plan long term.
- Guide and share your expertise across the full breadth of people related areas, such as workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management, reward, performance management, organisational planning, employee engagement and org development for example.
- Mentor junior members of the people team (and wider if capacity allows) to help facilitate growth and development.
- Be a role model and support the employee experience team across topics such as DEI, employer branding, onboarding, wellbeing and other relevant topics.
Collaborate and Partner
- Partner closely with COE functions to help complete people programs and initiatives.
- Deeply understand the problem space by actively listening, constructively challenging and taking data/insights into account before recommending proposed solutions. Use Innovative thinking to think bigger.
- Change management will be an integral part of this role and partnership across functions and orgs will be key in delivering successful change management approaches and initiatives.
Employee Development and Engagement
- Partner closely with People Development to help design and implement employee enablement initiatives that grow the capabilities, knowledge and competencies of the org.
- Where necessary, facilitate workshops aligned to the above to promote growth and development.
- Collaborate and support leaders with engagement survey results and support overall action planning to enhance satisfaction and retention.
HR Policy and Compliance

- Coach on standard processes, policies and procedures.
Data Analytics and Reporting
- Utilise HR analytics and data driven insights to make informed decisions and recommendations and drive systemic improvements.
- Analyse data to identify trends, patterns and areas for improvement based on HR indicators such as attrition, engagement and performance.
What We're Looking For:
- Extensive experience in HR roles (typically 8+ years) with a focus on strategic business partnership, preferably in technology or fast growing orgs, ideally supporting GTM teams
- Experience partnering with multi-layered leadership on highly complex, commercially-critical talent and people strategies, preferably within a geo-spread organisation.
- Proven track record of implementing impactful people strategies, with solid change management principles
- A solid depth of knowledge in understanding various people pillars including reward and recognition, career development and personal growth, talent management and retention, workforce management, org planning and employee relations.
- Relationship building ability with a consultative approach to strategic partnership, capable of collaborating across groups and able to influence all levels, at all times being empathetic, inquisitive and respectful in approach.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities and influence and adapt in a fluid, high-growth environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal), to effectively collaborate with partners at all levels and not being afraid to constructively challenge the status quo.
- Knowledge of labour law in more than one region is a big plus.
