Forward Deployed Product Engineer (m/f/d)

Munich, on-site · Full-time · Start: ASAP

About Bayshore

Bayshore builds AI agents for legal and compliance—software that turns complex rules into clear, auditable decisions. Our platform combines a legal reasoning engine with end-to-end automation to help enterprises move faster without sacrificing compliance. We work with some of the world's largest organizations, including DAX-listed and Fortune 500 companies.

We're backed by Earlybird, one of Europe's leading inception funds, and are assembling an exceptional team to shape how regulated enterprises adopt AI at scale.

The Role

As our Forward Deployed Product Engineer, you turn customer problems into working software. You work directly with enterprise customers and our Legal Engineers to understand what they need, build solutions quickly, and use what you learn to improve our core platform.

Our Legal Engineers (law background, usually no technical background) translate customers’ policies and processes into workflows configured on Bayshore. When customer requirements go beyond what the platform supports, you take engineering ownership. You write the code: new features, integrations, demos, and fixes that help customers move forward.

You’ll work across customer delivery and core product development. One day, you might prototype a workflow with a customer; the next, debug a deployment issue or build a capability that benefits every tenant. Together with our platform engineers, you turn successful solutions into reliable, reusable product features—taking them to production yourself or handing them over with clear requirements and technical context.

We’re looking for a high-agency, AI-native builder who combines strong engineering skills with product judgment. You ask good questions, make decisions under uncertainty, and follow through until your work delivers value.

What You'll Do

Customer Collaboration

  • Work directly with customers and Legal Engineers to understand workflows, constraints, and requirements

  • Identify where platform configuration is sufficient and where new engineering work is needed

  • Turn ambiguous requests into concrete solutions, explaining technical possibilities and tradeoffs clearly

Build and Deliver

  • Build and ship features, integrations, and fixes directly in the Bayshore platform

  • Create demos and prototypes, validate them with customers, and iterate quickly on feedback

  • Debug platform edge cases and resolve technical issues blocking customer deployments

  • Own delivery from problem definition through implementation, testing, release, and customer feedback

Core Product Development

  • Identify patterns across customer projects and turn recurring needs into reusable platform capabilities

  • Collaborate with platform engineers on architecture, code reviews, and production readiness

  • Balance speed with maintainability, security, and reliability

  • Use agentic coding tools to accelerate development while taking responsibility for the quality of what ships

What We're Looking For

  • Strong full-stack software engineering skills and a track record of shipping working products

  • A computer science background or equivalent technical depth gained through practical experience

  • High initiative: you identify what needs to happen and drive it through to completion

  • Strong product judgment: you understand the underlying problem and choose a practical solution

  • Confidence working directly with enterprise customers and communicating with nontechnical stakeholders

  • An AI-native development approach: you use coding agents effectively and can independently review, debug, and improve their output

  • Comfort navigating an evolving codebase and working through unfamiliar technical problems

  • Clear communication in English and (optionally) German

  • Curiosity about AI, legal reasoning, and compliance automation

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Product Engineer, or in another customer-facing engineering role

  • Prior experience at an early-stage startup

  • Experience building AI applications, agents, workflow systems, or enterprise integrations

  • Experience in legal tech, compliance, or a highly regulated industry

What We Offer

  • Build software used by some of the world's largest organizations, with direct access to the people using it

  • Shape our core platform through hands-on customer work

  • Real ownership: take a problem from the first conversation to a shipped solution

  • Work directly with founders, platform engineers, and Legal Engineers

  • Room to grow as a technical leader as the product and team expand

  • Competitive salary and equity

  • High talent density—everyone here takes ownership and moves fast

  • Munich, on-site

Application Process

  1. First call with Co-Founder/CTO

  2. Practical engineering challenge on-site or remote
