Forward Deployed Legal Engineer (m/w/d)

Munich, on-site · Full-time · Start: ASAP

About Bayshore

Bayshore builds a multi-agent compliance automation platform for enterprises. Our AI agents gather evidence, coordinate stakeholders, and drive complex reviews from intake to an auditable decision. At the core sits our legal reasoning engine, which turns legal rules and company policies into traceable, executable logic.

We work with some of the world's largest organizations, including DAX-listed and Fortune 500 companies. We're backed by Earlybird, one of Europe's leading inception funds, and are assembling an exceptional team to shape how regulated enterprises adopt AI at scale.

Our Team

We are a software company, not a law firm. 15 people across engineering, legal, and commercial, with backgrounds from Germany, Colombia, India, and Turkey. Before Bayshore, we gained work experience at RobCo, Google, BCG, and Freshfields. We work from a large loft office in Munich, close to the main station, where we also host our own events for the tech and legal tech community.

The Role

As a Forward Deployed Legal Engineer, you sit at the intersection of technology, regulation, and customers. You take a customer's compliance process from first conversation to a working, automated solution on the Bayshore platform, and you carry the result.

You don't need a law degree, and we don't measure you against a lawyer's qualification yardstick. You need technical depth or consulting rigor, plus real curiosity about how regulation works. You'll build the legal knowledge on the job.

What You'll Do

Understand the problem

  • Work directly with customers to understand workflows, policies, and regulatory requirements

  • Identify the right use cases together with the customer and draft automation concepts and project plans

  • Explain technical possibilities and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders

Build and deliver

  • Translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions and implement them on the Bayshore Compliance Platform

  • Codify rulesets in our rule language and test them rigorously

  • Run weekly jour fixes with customers and turn feedback into priorities

Shape the product

  • Define product and engineering requirements together with our software engineers

  • Present new features and develop presentations, manuals, and documentation

  • Spot additional opportunities at the customer and represent Bayshore at conferences and events

What We're Looking For

  • A technical background (computer science, engineering, data, math, or equivalent practical experience), or a consulting background with genuine tech interest and a hands-on streak

  • Some customer-facing experience: consulting, forward deployed, solutions, or implementation work

  • Strong structured thinking: you break complex rules and processes into clear logic

  • High agency and comfort with ambiguity: you decide, move, and take responsibility for the outcome

  • Confidence with senior customer stakeholders

  • Excellent spoken and written English; German strongly preferred

  • Curiosity about AI, regulation, and compliance

  • Full-time, available as soon as possible

Nice to Have

  • Experience building automation, workflows, or AI applications

  • Exposure to legal tech, compliance, or a regulated industry

  • Early-stage startup experience

What We Offer

  • Responsibility from day one: customer contact from the start, your own customers and projects within weeks

  • Direct access to the top: you work with Chief Compliance Officers and other senior leaders at Global 2000 companies

  • A steep learning curve: regulation, AI, automation, product, and consulting in one role

  • Equity from the start, growing with your responsibility

  • Competitive salary

  • A high-performance team that takes care of each other

How We Work

  • High standards. We expect exceptional commitment and take responsibility for results: we stay on a project until the customer is satisfied.

  • No hero culture. Sick is sick, vacation is vacation. Nobody should work on a laptop during time off. Customers and projects have cover, knowledge is shared, and colleagues step in for each other.

  • Office-first. We work together in Munich and expect you to live here. Home office exists for sensible flexibility (a repair appointment, feeling slightly under the weather) but is not the default.

  • Close team. We work, eat, and cook together, and regularly do things like surfing, padel, or high ropes courses. We also go on offsites together.

  • Don't take our word for it. Ask Maria or Melanie what working at Bayshore is actually like. We'll gladly connect you.

Application Process

  1. Intro call (about 20 min): getting to know each other, the role, expectations, availability, and salary expectations, so we both avoid unnecessary interviews

  2. Conversation with Paul, Co-Founder and Chief Legal Engineering Officer

  3. Take-home challenge: you receive a legal ruleset with an introduction, structure it logically, and translate it into machine-readable rules

  4. On-site interview in Munich: technical review of your challenge, plus a customer role play with preparation time

  5. Offer, typically within about a week of the final interview
