About You

We're looking for a VP Engineering to take over the technical leadership of a small, high-performing engineering team at Earlybird. In this role, you’ll drive the evolution of Eagle Eye - our internal VC intelligence platform - and turn it into a lasting competitive edge in how we source, evaluate, and collaborate on deals.

About Earlybird

Founded in 1997, Earlybird backs exceptional early-stage companies across Europe — supporting them with capital, strategic guidance, and access to a global network. Our platform includes dedicated strategies for tech and health, a Growth Opportunity Fund for follow-ons, and a pro-bono initiative, Vision Lab. With €2.5 billion under management and a track record of 9 IPOs and 35 trade sales, Earlybird is one of Europe’s most established venture capital firms.

At Earlybird, your projects, responsibilities, and tasks will likely include:

What You’ll Do

  • Take technical ownership of Eagle Eye, Earlybird’s internal VC platform

  • Build and improve core systems: data pipelines, internal tools, automations, APIs, UIs

  • Lead the current engineering team to ship fast and with high quality

  • Collaborate with partners, investors, and analysts to translate needs into usable software

  • Define and implement best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and devops

  • Support hiring and onboarding of future engineers as the team grows

  • Continuously evolve Eagle Eye as a strategic product for Earlybird

What we hope you bring to the role:
  • 10+ years of experience across software, data, or ML engineering

  • Strong coding skills and experience building full-stack systems end-to-end

  • First leadership experience: mentoring, leading projects, managing engineers

  • You’re excited by the idea of working directly with investment teams

  • You’re pragmatic, product-minded, and thrive in fast-moving environments

  • Bonus: Experience building tools for investors, founders, or startup ecosystems (e.g. CRM, sourcing, analytics, workflow)

  • Based in or willing to relocate to Berlin or Munich

  • Work Authorization for Germany
