Senior Workday Finance Specialist (R-18845)

Key Responsibilities:
- Foundational Data Model (FDM) Maintenance: Maintain and update Workday’s Foundational Data Model – the multi-dimensional chart of accounts (work tags) framework that underpins all financial transactions and reporting. Ensure that financial data elements (e.g. ledger accounts, organizations, cost centers, spend categories, etc.) are correctly configured and aligned with the company’s reporting requirements and governance standards.
- Workday Financials Configuration: Configure and support the Procurement, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivables (AR), Banking, General Ledger (GL), Assets and Workday Projects modules in Workday Financial Management. This includes managing business processes, validations, and financial accounting setups. Work closely with Finance teams to gather requirements and implement changes or enhancements in these modules.
- Integration Development (Workday Studio): Design, develop, test, and deploy integrations between Workday and other internal or third-party systems using Workday Studio. Utilize Workday Integration Cloud tools such as Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, and Web Services (REST/SOAP APIs) as needed for data integration and outbound/inbound data feeds. Ensure integrations are efficient, reliable, and secure. Maintain integration documentation, and monitor integration runs for errors, performing troubleshooting and resolution of integration issues in a timely manner.
- Reporting and Analytics Support: Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards for all Workday financial modules using Workday’s reporting tools. Build Advanced, Matrix, and Composite Reports to provide actionable insights to the Finance and Accounting teams.
- Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure Workday configurations and integrations adhere to internal controls, data security policies, and compliance requirements. For financial processes, maintain compliance with SOX and audit requirements by ensuring appropriate segregation of duties and documentation. Follow Workday best practices for configuration and integration development, including proper change management (e.g., using Workday’s Dev/Stage/Prod tenants for testing and deployment).
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with Workday’s semi-annual release updates, especially new features related to Financial Management and Integration. Assess the impact of new Workday features on the FDM or existing integrations and recommend improvements or adoption of relevant features to optimize processes. Proactively identify opportunities to leverage Workday to solve business problems or improve efficiency.
- Documentation and Training: Create and maintain detailed documentation for configurations, integration designs, workflows, and any custom solutions implemented. Develop job aids or training materials for end-users or internal team members as needed, particularly for new reports or process changes in the Workday. Conduct knowledge transfer or training sessions to empower users and ensure smooth adoption of Workday solutions.
Key Requirements:
- Workday Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on Workday experience with a focus on Workday Financials. This should include direct experience with Procurement, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivables (AR), Banking, General Ledger (GL), Assets and Workday Projects modules (e.g., implementing or supporting these functions in Workday).
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Technology Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Workday Pro Certification: Certification through the Workday Pro program in one or more areas.
- Integration Skills: Strong experience in developing Workday integrations. Must be proficient with Workday Studio for building complex integrations. Familiarity with other integration tools such as EIB, Cloud Connectors, and Workday Web Services (SOAP and REST APIs) is required. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize integration processes is essential.
- FDM Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Workday’s Foundational Data Model (FDM) and its components (Worktags, hierarchies, ledgers, etc.). Ability to manage and modify the chart of accounts/worktags to meet organizational changes (such as new companies, cost centers, spend/revenue categories, etc.), while ensuring data consistency across Workday Financials.
- Workday Reporting: Proficiency in creating and modifying Workday reports. Experience with Workday Report Writer, including building Advanced and Matrix reports, and using Calculated Fields. Capable of designing custom reports for finance (e.g., spend reports, GL summaries, supplier analysis) and tailoring them to user requirements.
- Experience with Composite Reports or Workday Dashboards is a plus.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand.
- Excellent communication skills, Collaborate with Functional Leads in all Workday financial modules to understand their requirements, identify process improvements or enhancements to existing processes, propose solutions, prioritize key deliverables, align activities with the overall objectives and manage dependencies.
- Configure, facilitate testing, deploy and support the change management for delivered solutions in coordination with the functional leads, including reporting and any impacts to integrations.
- Monitor and review system upgrades, releases and security configurations to determine overall business impact, conduct regression testing and make recommendations for future enhancements/functionality.
- Maintain strict confidentiality to protect employees and financial data privacy.
- Highly organized with ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively while demonstrating a sense of urgency.
