About the opportunity
We are looking for a Compliance Manager to lead our compliance & AML function for the newly established subsidiary in Ireland. As a key leadership team member, you will be responsible for navigating regulatory frameworks, providing strategic advice, and ensuring compliance with Irish and European crowdfunding regulations. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the compliance strategy of a fast-growing fintech that is redefining access to capital. You will be supported at all times from our legal team based in Berlin.
In this role, you will:
Design and build the compliance function within the Irish licensed entity from scratch. We are only getting started, so have a lot of freedom in how you want to tackle this challenge.
Establish and oversee all compliance & AML operations in Ireland, ensuring alignment with European Crowdfunding Service Provider regulation and local and European legal requirements.
Provide strategic input and advise the senior management team on legal and regulatory risks associated with our crowdfunding services, corporate governance, and strategic initiatives.
Support of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including platform user terms, commercial contracts, partnership agreements, among others.
Ensure that our Group’s Irish operations are in compliance with the Irish Central Bank and European crowdfunding regulations, including ongoing oversight of licensing requirements and reporting obligations.
Draft and implement policies and procedures to manage legal risks, data protection, and conflicts of interest.
Act as the primary point of contact for regulators.
What you need to be successful (requirements):
Extensive Compliance Experience: A proven track record in building and operating compliance & AML functions in financial services, fintech, or comparable sectors. Background in professional services is considered as comparable experience. First-hand experience with crowdfunding or payment services is a significant advantage.
Expertise in Financial Regulations: Solid understanding of Irish and European financial & AML regulations and a keen ability to navigate compliance requirements.
Educational Background: Either (i) Law degree or (ii) professional education in a bank with 5+ years of experience in compliance & AML. A professional qualification in Irish law and bar admission in Ireland is a huge plus.
Contract and Policy Expertise: Exceptional ability to draft and develop internal legal & compliance frameworks.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing external counsel, regulators, and other critical relationships.
Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey compliance concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
Regulatory Strategy: Strategic thinker with the ability to align compliance & AML considerations with business objectives and long-term growth.
Adaptability and Initiative: Willingness to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Balanced Vision: Skilled at aligning immediate business needs with long-term strategic goals, ensuring sustainable growth.
