About the Role:

We are looking for an Engineering Director to join our team and shape the future of delivery technology, making a significant impact on the industry.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing engineering teams with a consultative approach in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

As the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for guiding the development of our delivery technology solutions, ensuring they align with our business goals and exceed market expectations.

A Deeper Overview:

  • Engineering Director: Reporting to the COO, you will oversee a portfolio of projects, managing both your team's results and client expectations. Leading multiple delivery teams, you will stay ahead of new developments and future demands, translating project insights into product vision.
  • Responsibility for Implementation Projects: You will define, in collaboration with the Partner Support & Excellence Technical Director, the methodology, tools, and techniques to be used, coaching team members in their application. Your expert technical knowledge and leadership skills will be crucial.
  • Client Engagement: From kick-off sessions with clients and stakeholders, you will take the lead in discussing technical requirements through to project sign-off, impressing with your technical knowledge and leadership.
  • Risk Management: You will manage and mitigate technical risks, define strategies aligned with FintechOS product architecture and industry standards, identify technical improvements, and ensure custom solutions are translated to general solutions. You will also support and evaluate your team to maintain an exceptional technical level. As we grow globally, travel abroad will be required.

What You’ll Need:

  • Deep expertise in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including backend and frontend development, with a strong emphasis on quality assurance practices.
  • Proficient in agile methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to manage both delivery and managed service (support) teams effectively.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple squads, including both in-house and remote (on-site) teams, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery.
  • Preferably possesses domain expertise in banking or financial services, bringing valuable industry insights to the role.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer-focused skills, with a strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication abilities, effectively engaging with both internal teams and external partners to drive collaboration and success.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, ensuring clear and concise communication across all channels.
  • Proven expertise in people management, including recruiting top talent, fostering employee loyalty, and developing technical professionals to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:

- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Customer Success Engineering department, aligning with the company's overall objectives.

- Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of engineering staff.

  • Technical Oversight:

- Provide technical guidance and direction for all delivery technology projects, ensuring high standards of engineering excellence.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to deliver robust and scalable technology solutions.

- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the department.

  • Project Management:

- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and successful delivery of technology initiatives.

- Implement and maintain best practices for software development, quality assurance, and deployment processes.

- Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any risks or issues that arise.

  • Product Development:

- Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to implementation and deployment.

- Ensure products meet market needs and customer requirements, delivering exceptional user experiences.

- Work closely with the Product team to define product roadmaps and prioritize features.

  • Quality & Performance:

- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the performance and success of engineering projects.

- Implement processes to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our delivery technology solutions.

- Conduct regular code reviews and technical audits to maintain high-quality standards.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

- Proven experience in managing and scaling engineering teams in a startup or high-growth environment.

- Strong technical expertise in delivery technology.

- Excellent knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.

- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

- A passion for technology and a deep understanding of the delivery industry.
