What will you be doing?
Technician Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of QC analysts/technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and operational excellence.
- Develop and conduct training, performance appraisals, and support professional development plans for team members.
- Schedule and prioritize testing workflows to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Perform and oversee microbiological and molecular biology tests in the QC lab that include, but is not limited to, microbiological bioburden testing, sterility (USP 71, EP 2.6.1), and environmental monitoring.
- Perform and support cellular and molecular biology testing that may include, but is not limited to, Western blot, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), and Fluorescence-activated Cell Sorting (FACS).
- Prepare and maintain media, reagents, and chemical solutions for testing.
- Troubleshoot methods, equipment, and data to ensure reliability and accuracy of results.
- Interpret, verify, and document test results and generate comprehensive technical reports.
- Support the ongoing development, maintenance, and implementation of GOURMEY’s Lab Quality Manual to ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, ISO 17025 (as necessary), and other regulatory requirements in lab operations.
- Liaise with external laboratory partners, contract research organizations, and sample logistics partners as a primary contact where necessary.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of samples shipments to external laboratories and other relevant parties by the QC team.
- Support the ongoing implementation of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the QC lab operations to ensure accurate data recording and reporting.
- Oversee validation and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Implement and monitor hygiene protocols to maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
- Investigate and document non-conformances, proposing corrective and preventive actions where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate quality control records and ensure adherence to safety policies.
- Drive process enhancements and quality improvements through data analysis and the adoption of new technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine laboratory practices and support broader operational goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous learning within the laboratory.
What about you?
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a GLP microbiology or molecular biology laboratory operating within an ISO/IEC 17025 framework.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in aseptic processing and cleanroom environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with FDA, EU, and EMEA regulations is desirable.
- Proven expertise in aseptic techniques, bioburden testing, environmental monitoring, sterility procedures, and microbial identification.
- Hands-on experience with molecular techniques such as Western blot, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, PCR, and ELISA.
- Strong proficiency in reagent preparation and subculturing techniques.
- In-depth understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of advanced techniques (e.g., LC-MS, GC-MS, HPLC, MALDI-TOF) is an advantage but not required.
- Excellent analytical skills for interpreting complex data and identifying trends.
- Excellent writing skills to prepare study plans, validation and technical reports.
- Experience with LIMS and related laboratory software systems.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); fluency in French is a plus.
