We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer working to build, measure, improve, optimize, maintain and operate our highly reliable, globally scalable and secure platform, infrastructure and operations stacks to provide our HiveMQ MQTT Broker as a managed Software as a Service (SaaS) product on various major cloud providers.

The HiveMQ Cloud team usually operates within European work hours.

You will…

• Learn everything about MQTT, distributed systems, IoT (theory, applications, best practices) and large scale cloud platforms
• Create, Architect, implement and maintain the core platform and infrastructure of a massively scalable global MQTT implementation,
• Create self-healing infrastructure with modern tooling,
• Exploit Cloud Native Technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, Crossplane, Terraform and modern operations stacks in a highly automated manner,
• Identify and remove potential performance issues,
• Function Independently as well as cross-team in order to create and maintain SLO/SLAs,
• Manage and provide reliable release pipelines,
• Monitor and optimize application performance and capacity planning,
• Cooperate with our Product teams to enable and support them delivering new products and sophisticated features on top of the platform,
• Live a culture of teamwork, quality, growth, drive to action and excellence,
• Contribute to the overall platform quality and engineering vision of HiveMQ.

You have…

• Profound Experience in an environment where you were responsible for a global cloud system and you view operations from the perspective of a software engineer intent on building fully automated systems
• Proven experience in building and operating applications at production-quality in the cloud with Cloud native technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Gardener, Helm, CI/CD and other IaC tools
• The ability to methodically diagnose systems, networking and application issues also under pressure and in on-call operation
• Multiple Years of Production Experience with at least one of the major 3 Cloud providers, advanced experience with one more of the major 3 cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
• Strong Experience with metrics and monitoring solutions such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir or similar (like ElasticSearch, Kibana)
• High standards on building platform and infrastructure setups with automation, modular reusable infrastructure as code, GitOps, Test- and CI/CD-driven.
• The ability to solve problems independently and are driven towards execution
• A systematic but pragmatic approach paired with a high sense of ownership and take pride in the work you accomplish as a team
• A good understanding how agile platform engineering using Kanban in a self-organized team works
• Excellent English communication skills and an outstanding work ethic
