What you'll do:
- You will have ownership of key features of our author and reader platforms, with deep understanding of how those features are used and their impact on the business
- You will rapidly iterate on all aspects of those features - from UI and front-end models, to API powering them, as well as the underlying back-end systems responsible for data acquisition and processing
- You will architect for scale - both in terms of a massive volume of daily active users and the huge amounts of data processing required to power them
- You will stay on top of new developments in the fields of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and constantly survey the vendors, open source projects, and emerging research and propose new ways to leverage those technologies
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Product, Content, Department Heads, and the Founder/CEO to develop feature plans and roadmaps
- Work with Python, GoLang, JavaScript, Ruby, and other programming languages
- Balance speed of delivery, level of tech debt, building in house, and leveraging vendors/tools
Who you are:
- Startup hungry; you excel in a fast-paced, scrappy environment and you welcome new challenges
- Committed to building an in-person work culture; you prefer a hybrid work model
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Expert-level in at least one back-end language and application development framework as well as desire to learn more
- Have examples of front-end feature ownership (web/mobile) and full-stack development/support of those features
- Experience training and deploying LLMs
- Strong knowledge of SQL
- Deep curiosity and can show examples of experimentation with emerging technologies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts in simple language
- Embrace the value of rapid iteration based on user feedback and data
- Adaptable and able to quickly learn and jump between platforms, languages, and technologies
