- Manage the day-to-day finance department operations including a broad range of finance and finance-related topics
- Manage preparatory accounting for monthly and year-end reporting, as well as the daily controlling process
- Run the accounts payable process for regular invoices, author royalties, and affiliates; interacting independently with third-party vendors and authors
- Manage payroll across the global workforce, as well as the reimbursement process
- Support the team in the budget and financial forecasting process
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including accountants, tax consultants and advisors
- High level of responsibility and ownership for complex tasks in day-to-day business and project work in an international team from day one
Who you are:
- Startup hungry; you excel in a fast-paced, scrappy environment and you welcome new challenges
- Committed to building an in-person work culture; you prefer a hybrid work model
- You ideally have 1-2 years experience in a financial generalist role with accounting prep/controlling experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- General understanding of bookkeeping under HGB is a plus
- Strong Google Sheets skills, as well as an eye for numbers
- Works well under pressure and has the ability to prioritize amongst multiple projects with a sense of urgency towards meeting deadlines and resolving open issues
- Proactive self-starter and problem-solver who is able to work independently as well as within a team
- Highly organized with high attention to detail
- Excellent communications skills both in German and English (minimum B2 German)
