Inkitt is on the hunt for a passionate and meticulous Editorial Assistant to join our Content Team. We are dedicated to discovering and nurturing new writing talent, and we need a skilled editor to help ensure the quality of our incoming books.
What You'll Do:
- As an Editorial Assistant at Inkitt, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our book publications.
- Your primary responsibilities will be to run editing tools on manuscripts and to review manuscripts to ensure they meet our quality criteria.
- This role offers significant growth potential, with opportunities to transition into a full-time position in the Content team, dependant on performance and fit.
Responsibilities:
- Run editing tools on incoming book manuscripts and review manuscripts to ensure quality output.
- Collaborate with the Content Team to support overall editorial processes.
- Provide detailed feedback and suggestions for improvements to editing tools.
- Ability to perform quick-turnaround copyedits, line edits, proofreading, and beta-reading as needed.
- As the role develops, you will take on greater responsibility for managing parts of the editorial workflows and for providing creative input into editing and rewrites.
Requirements
- Location: Remote; ability to work Berlin hours (Ability to visit Berlin is an advantage)
- Language: Fluent English speaker.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years professional editing experience. Minimum 1 year of experience in editing fiction.
- Skills: Excellent copyediting skills. Basic understanding of quantitative reasoning.
- Interest: Keen interest in utilizing AI to assist in editorial processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Genre Knowledge: Familiarity with Romance and its subgenres, especially Paranormal Romance, Contemporary, and Erotica.
- Tech Savvy: Familiarity with AI models, and excitement about using AI and exploring new implementations and uses with it.
