You’ll hold responsibility for developing, optimizing, and overseeing the avionics assembly processes as well as implementing testing procedures, including defining the required equipment, to ensure the production of high-quality components and assemblies. You will check the readiness for production of parts, assemblies, and methods aiming for a reliably serial production. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, regarding technical support, striving for best-in-class products and business practices. You will work together with the AIT technicians in perfecting these procedures and thereafter, introducing them to the PLM/MES system. Building a rocket, we have the following key production processes: additive manufacturing, CNC turning and milling, assembly processes, carbon fibre composites, electronics manufacturing, and welding. Some of the processes are fully automated. Our machine park includes only the most advanced and latest machinery and equipment.
- Process Development: Develop and optimize assembly processes for electrical harnesses and avionics assembly, including, methods, equipment, and overseeing the component integration to achieve a robust and reliable product
- Production Management: Oversee the daily operations of harness assembly activities, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality, standards, and safety regulations
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures for harness assembly processes. Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure all products meet the required specifications and standards, and be responsible for defining and designing the equipment required for testing
- Safety: Conduct Hazard and Risk Assessments
- Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and support to production staff, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to harness assembly processes and integration processes
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality and characteristics. Apply lean manufacturing principles where applicable. Organize scheduled maintenance activities.
- Documentation: maintain detailed documentation of production processes, including standard operation procedures, test procedures, process parameters, and quality control records
- Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, R&D teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of harness assembly processes into product development and production and to define test requirements and procedures
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of harness assembly equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
Who you are and what you have
- Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent education
- Proven experience in an assembly environment for electrical and wiring components
- Strong understanding of harness design, production techniques, and materials
- Experience with procedure creation / re-structuring in an assembly environment
- Experience in lean manufacturing, risk assessment
- Knowledge/understanding of PLM and/or MES systems in assembly environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex assembly issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Project management skills, including effective communication skills
- Fluent English, German knowledge is a plus
- Knowledge about different types of sensors
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in a similar position as process engineer or assembly engineer
- Aerospace experience, preferably with electrical vehicle development
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory related to harness assembly (e.g. IPC/WHMA-A-620)
- Testing with high pressures
- Knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Python)
- Have experience or familiar with PLC and DAQ systems
