Who we are

Marvel Fusion, founded in 2019 and based in Munich, is a technology pioneer in the field of safe, clean, and reliable power generation. With the aim of solving one of the biggest problems of humanity, we are developing a completely new type of fusion energy technology that dramatically increases the probability of fusion and builds on recent advances in laser and nanoscience.

Why Marvel Fusion

By joining us, you will be:

  • Solving one of the most complex technological challenges known to humanity, harnessing Fusion on Earth
  • Part of a highly purpose-driven team working on providing the world with clean, safe and abundant energy
  • Working alongside world-leading scientists and entrepreneurs in the field of Fusion
  • Part of a start-up where growth on a company and individual level is the default

The impact you will make

In this multifaceted and exciting role, you will be working within a team of Engineers and Physicists on complex electromechanical systems. You and your team will deliver high-quality experimental setups that aim to validate Marvel Fusion’s theoretical concept and approach on the pathway to fusion commercialization. Your role will involve maintaining and improving the existing motion and data acquisition systems (SCADA) used at a variety of experimental facilities around the world; integrating new devices and control methodologies, and improving the operational efficiency of these experiments.

Your responsibilities

  • Interact and collaborate with our scientists and engineers to design and plan experimental equipment and setups
  • Use Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages to write device drivers for complex experimental systems
  • Develop data acquisition algorithms and processing scripts/logic
  • Maintain and tailor existing SCADA infrastructure to suit the needs of the experiment
  • Write detailed software and engineering documentation (such as Software specifications, deployment instructions, algorithm specifications, troubleshooting instructions)
  • Assemble, install and commission the control and data acquisition systems hard and software onsite
  • Contribute to the Engineering Quality Management System with procedural documentation and establish engineering best practices
  • Hands-on support of our science team in setup phases and during experimental campaigns

What you bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering in a relevant field (e.g. Mechatronics, Electrical, or related)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with control and data acquisition systems in scientific facilities or in the aerospace, nuclear, laser, optics industry or similar
  • Experience with EPLAN and other electrical documentation
  • Experience with OOP (Object-oriented programming) in Python and C++
  • Experience with version management and collaborative software tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, etc
  • Experience in programming PLC’s or other multi-axis I/O stepper motor controllers
  • Knowledge about timeline, budget and resource planning for fast-moving and high-value technical projects
  • Fluency in English with excellent communication skills and a structured working style
  • A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability and can-do attitude
  • Willingness to travel and spend time at national and international laser laboratories

What sets you apart

  • Fluent in German is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Experience working in high-vacuum environments (HV or UHV)
  • Understanding of laser, optics and nuclear physics principles
  • Experience with Inventor/Vault or similar CAD/PDM systems

What we offer

  • An opportunity to make a huge impact on the future of our planet by making clean, safe and abundant energy possible
