We are hiring a Senior-Level Photonic Product Engineer to lead the transition of NcodiN’s optical interposer solutions from R&D to full-scale production. In this role, you will define and own the NcodiN’s Product Design Kit (PDK), collaborating closely with the R&D team.
You will play a central role in NcodiN’s industrialization strategy, overseeing the optical aspects of the tape-out process at partner foundries and ensuring that designs meet Design for Excellence (DfX) standards—optimized for manufacturability, reliability, yield and scalability.
This role demands deep expertise in active photonic devices and manufacturing processes. Success will require a proactive approach to technical challenges, strong collaboration skills and the ability to think critically and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You may also represent the company at technical conferences, showcasing our leadership in cutting-edge photonic technologies
Responsibilities
• Define and own the Photonic Product Design Kit (PDK), collaborating with R&D to transfer and finalize design data for production
• Coordinate the transfer of photonic technology from R&D to product engineering, ensuring readiness for production
• Lead design validation and optimization using Design for Excellence (DfX) principles to ensure effective yield and reliability
• Interface with process engineers, test engineers, and foundry partners to ensure alignment of design requirements with manufacturing capabilities
• Oversee optical tape-out at partner foundries, including layout integration, mask preparation and design sign-off
• Analyze and interpret fabrication and test results to improve performance and robustness
• Collaborate cross-functionally with packaging, electronics and systems teams to ensure photonic design integration at the product level
• Contribute to the definition and execution of product industrialization strategy, including risk assessment and design maturity milestones
• Support technical documentation and represent the company at industry conferences and technical forums when required
Requirements
• PhD in Photonics or a related field, with 3+ years of industry experience
• Proven experience in photonic device design and system integration with a strong understanding of the manufacturability of photonic systems
• Hands-on experience with PDKs and tape-out processes at semiconductor foundries
• Expertise in Design for Excellence (DfX) principles, including manufacturability, testability, reliability, yield optimization
• Strong background in optical materials, photonic active III-V devices and integrated circuits
• Familiarity with simulation tools for photonic design such as Lumerical or equivalent
• Experience working in cross-functional teams with a focus on collaboration between R&D, manufacturing and product teams
• Solve complex technical challenges and deliver results while meeting tight schedules
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work collaboratively with people across multiple functional areas
• Flexibility, polyvalency and open-mindedness
• English professional proficiency
• French is a plus
