Ideal start date: January 5th 2026

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior System Engineer to define and own the architecture of NcodiN’s next-generation optical-AI systems. This mission-critical role sits at the intersection of photonics, electronics, SoC, and packaging, ensuring that the platform is designed to perform optimally across a range of real-world use cases.

Collaborating closely with product engineers and the R&D team, you will translate product goals into actionable requirements, define subsystem interfaces, and lead architectural trade-offs, ensuring integration and alignment across all domains.

This role provides the opportunity to shape the technical foundation of NcodiN’s groundbreaking platform, setting the standards and vision that will drive the next generation of AI hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own system-level architecture and specifications for NcodiN’s optical platforms, translating system requirements into product specifications.

  • Develop and maintain system-level models to evaluate performance, efficiency and scalability before physical integration.

  • Guide architectural trade-offs across performance, efficiency, reliability, and scalability, balancing competing constraints.

  • Collaborate closely with product engineers, SoC experts, packaging specialists, and test/qualification teams to ensure system coherence and feasibility.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams, supporting strategic decision-making and high-level problem-solving.

  • Shape the roadmap by identifying and prioritizing application domains and use cases where our technology delivers the greatest impact.

Hard Skills:

  • Proven industrial experience as a senior system engineer or technical architect in complex SoC systems, with a track record of delivering commercial, production-ready, or high-impact hardware products.

  • Demonstrated ability to define and optimize system-level architecture and specifications, balancing performance, efficiency, reliability, and scalability, and translating product goals into subsystem requirements.

  • Skilled in system-level modeling to evaluate performance, trade-offs, and suitability across different use cases, guiding architectural decisions and roadmap priorities.

  • Strong understanding of interconnect technologies in high-performance compute architectures and AI accelerators.

  • Knowledge of industry-standard protocols (PCIe, CXL, AXI, CHI), link-layer stacks, and physical-layer implementations (DDR, LPDDR, PCIe, SerDes).

  • Strong working knowledge of system-level simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python frameworks, Cadence, or equivalent).

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills, capable of guiding junior and cross-functional teams, influencing technical decisions, and driving high-level problem-solving.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with people across multiple functional areas

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and fellow technicians.

  • Flexibility, versatility and open-mindedness.

  • English professional proficiency.

  • French is a plus.
