About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Payment Operations Specialist to join our team in Sofia. You will be working closely with our Product, Engineering, Support and Implementations teams to drive operational excellence and solve payment-related issues.

You will have the opportunity to experience fast-paced company growth with a start-up mindset operating in the SAAS and Fintech industries.

Responsibilities

  • Keep an eye on the payments engine and solve payment-related problems.
    • Investigate and solve card acceptance issues (e.g. Spanish public offices, Italian railway etc); contacting issuer (if not Payhawk), processor, card network, merchant and acquirer.
    • Investigate and solve bank payment issues: inbound deposit not received, outbound payment not received etc; contacting vendors.
  • Provide input to the PM and engineers on how to decrease decline rates and operational load.
  • Drive operational excellence, while maintaining sufficient controls and assessing and mitigating operational risks.
    • Facilitate customer lifecycle events with payment partners, such as return balance after closing account.
    • Solve card delivery issues: contacting card manufacture, assisting Support in case of issues.
    • Monitoring and tracking card stock/ holograms/ cardholders/ envelopes - arranging orders, DHL delivery, etc.
    • Own Straight Through Processing rates for all our payments to ensure best in class performance alongside VP Payments, PM and Compliance teams.
  • Maintaining the knowledge-base of payment operations (e.g. coverage matrix of currencies, card types, bins, vendors).
  • Act as a point of contact between Wise, card scheme and our banking partners.
  • Act as bridge with key stakeholders for any card scheme related requirements.
  • Oversight of liquidity in all relevant (per currency) settlement accounts across all banking partners and respective processing.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of the SaaS industry and venture-backed businesses
  • Experience in a fast-scaling, high-velocity and dynamic environment, ideally with a track record of successfully building processes from scratch
  • Great communication and language skills
