About the role
At Payhawk, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Web Designer to join our Marketing Design Team. This role is pivotal in designing our website pages, creating a scalable website design system, and collaborating closely with the Director of Web Presence and the Marketing Design Director to bring the next version of our website to life. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web design, a deep understanding of design systems, and a passion for creating user-centric, highly converting, and visually stunning web experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the page design process from brief to execution. Work with Product Marketing Managers (PMMs) to transform long-form messaging into detailed page outlines and wireframes, ensuring alignment with business goals and brand principles.
- Lead the creation of responsive, engaging, and impactful web designs with a strong focus on UX principles to enhance conversion rates, particularly for actions such as demo bookings.
- Expand and continuously iterate on our existing website design system and page templates. Promote and implement design guidelines, best practices, and standards to ensure consistency and operational efficiency across all pages and locales.
- Work alongside the development team and web project manager to implement designs seamlessly and uphold the integrity of the design system.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights that inform and refine design decisions.
- Leverage analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of web pages and employ data-informed strategies to optimize page performance.
- Manage multiple design projects from inception through to execution, ensuring they adhere to deadlines and meet project specifications.
- Present and justify design decisions, provide constructive feedback, and inspire fellow designers through thought leadership on web design best practices and emerging digital trends.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in web design, UX and conversion rate optimization, continuously advancing our practices and tools to maintain cutting-edge standards.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional design experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in web design with a solid foundation in UX/UI principles, with at least one use case showcasing your end-to-end design process.
- Proven experience with design systems and managing large-scale websites.
- Experience with responsive, accessible, and mobile-first design.
- Proficiency in user research, interface design, user testing, and incorporating user feedback.
- Expertise in using tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and other relevant design software.
- Strong experience with content management systems like WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Adept at navigating and prioritizing work in a rapidly-changing startup environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and strategic/systematic thinking, with a keen understanding of how design influences user behaviour and business outcomes.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
- Experience in B2B or SaaS environments is a plus.
- Understanding of A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO) is a plus.
