QA Intern
Quality Assurance
Milan, Italy
EUR 800-800 / month
At Pillar, we're building the financial operating system for the construction industry: the largest, slowest, least digitized sector on the planet. We closed one of the largest pre-seed and seed rounds in Italy (€15M) and we're shipping the world's first AI-first ERP for construction.
“We ship delightful software” is one of our core principles, which means we obsess over the details, not just the roadmap.
That’s why we’re hiring a QA Tester Intern to be the last line of defense before every release: you’ll break things on purpose, spot the edge cases others miss, and help us ship a product that users can trust.
You’ll work closely with Product, Tech, and Customer Support teams, learn fast, and see new features land in production every week.
Offer: €800 gross/month + meal vouchers, 6-month full-time paid internship in Milan (Porta Vittoria), with a concrete path to a full-time role.
Why Pillar exists
Construction is the world's largest industry, and one of its least digitized. Every project, every subcontract, every site carries the same unresolved problem: nobody knows exactly where the money is, who owes what, or when it will move. The result is delays, disputes, and margins that erode job by job.
Italian construction companies don't have a work problem. They have a cash problem. Sites that invoice but never collect. Excel spreadsheets everywhere. Decisions made on gut feeling. Entrepreneurs who find out too late that they're already in trouble.
Pillar was built to fix this at the root, with a platform that connects every stakeholder in the construction chain on a single source of truth: developers, contractors, subcontractors, artisans. From back-office documents to data generated on site, via WhatsApp, in real time.
We ship fast. To keep up, our quality bar has to hold just as fast.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll thrive in this role if you are…
Methodical and patient: you don’t just say “it doesn’t work.” You pinpoint when, where, and why it breaks, and write clear steps so a developer can reproduce and fix it quickly.
Proactive and curious: you explore the product, build a mental model of how it should behave, and speak up when something feels off.
Detail-oriented: you try the edge cases others miss and you notice the tiny UI inconsistencies (yes, even the 2-pixel misalignment).
Comfortable with the basics of how web apps work (e.g., inspecting elements, checking the console).
Interested in test automation and happy to use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to move faster and cover more ground.
Bonus points if:
You’ve already done some testing, bug tracking, or written test cases (Linear, Jira, or similar).
You’ve built and shipped something of your own and know what it takes to deliver.
What you'll do
You'll own quality on what we ship. In practice:
Functional testing: test new features and fixes against what they're supposed to do. Follow the test plan, then go off-script to find what the plan missed.
UI checks: review screens and flows for visual inconsistencies, broken layouts, and interactions that don't feel right.
Bug reporting: document clear, reproducible issues in our tracking tool so developers can act on them immediately.
Regression and re-testing: verify fixes, and make sure new work didn't break what already worked before a release goes out.
Cross-team coordination: sit with the Project Management, Accounting, and Core teams, join sprint planning and review meetings, and know what's shipping and when.
Test cases and checklists: help keep our test scenarios organized and up to date as the product evolves.
Be the first power user: click around every new feature before anyone else, understand how it should behave, and become the person the team trusts to say "this is ready" or "this isn't."
