Finance Manager (f/m/x)
QuantumDiamonds
Who we are
Why join us?
- A machine that catches what others miss – in milliseconds.
- Physics, data, and engineering are working hand in hand to build tools that matter.
- An international team, who loves solving hard problems and where knowledge flows fast.
- You'll get to build a company together with a brilliant and welcoming team on a product that has never been done before.
- Our technology is the cutting edge of tomorrow, starting today and not in 10 years.
- You will work directly with major semiconductor companies from Day 1.
- You'll get virtual shares and act on behalf of the entire company, beyond just your own team.
- You’ll be part of a high-growth company backed by top-tier investors.
What will you do
- Own end-to-end financial operations in a hardware-centric environment: from accounting and controlling to operational finance, manufacturing finance, and project cost tracking.
- Manage the full order-to-cash cycle, including order-book management for configurable hardware systems, milestone invoicing, and customer payment schedules typical for semiconductor equipment companies.
- Build scalable finance processes for a deep-tech hardware organization transitioning from prototype builds to repeatable system shipments.
- Maintain accurate project P&L and tool-level costing, linking BOM evolution, NRE, and manufacturing costs to product margin development.
- Drive financial planning & analysis (FP&A): quarterly forecasts, long-range planning, headcount planning, and sensitivity analyses (e.g., supply chain delays, capex investments, ramp scenarios).
- Manage cashflow planning for a capex-intensive hardware business with long procurement cycles (optics, lasers, precision mechanics, electronics, custom diamond components).
- Coordinate with supply chain & operations to track purchase commitments, supplier payment terms, WIP status, and inventory valuation.
- Oversee import/export compliance from a financial and documentation perspective (customs codes, VAT handling, Incoterms, asset tracking, dual-use screening).
- Lead reporting for public funding instruments (EIC Accelerator, BMBF, BayVFP): cost eligibility, timesheet audits, evidence collection, and financial claims.
- Implement and maintain ERP/MRP-integrated finance processes, ensuring accurate BOM costing, inventory movements, lot tracking, and tooling depreciation.
- Support revenue recognition for multi-stage equipment shipments (hardware, installation, commissioning, customer acceptance).
- Serve as a financial partner to engineering and product teams, providing clear cost visibility during hardware design iterations and build phases.
- Establish internal controls, budgeting discipline, and spend transparency to support a growing hardware organization.
What is expected of you
- 3–5 years of experience in finance, controlling, or FP&A—ideally at a semiconductor equipment company (ASML, Applied Materials, KLA, Lam, Tokyo Electron) or a deep-tech hardware scale-up.
- Deep understanding of hardware-heavy financial cycles, including long lead times, milestone-based revenue, WIP tracking, and complex BOM structures.
- Experience with order-book management, customer milestone payments, lead-time-driven cash flow planning, and cost-of-goods transparency.
- Comfortable owning tool-level cost models, gross margin tracking, and forecasting in a low-volume, high-complexity capital equipment environment.
- Familiarity with import/export procedures, VAT, Incoterms, and global shipping challenges for high-value equipment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP ByD, NetSuite, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics) and integrating them with finance workflows.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize technical complexity into clear financial guidance.
- Excellent communication skills, able to align engineering, operations, and leadership around financial implications of technical decisions.
- (Nice to have) Experience with EU grant financial compliance or multi-partner R&D projects.
- (Nice to have) Knowledge of semiconductor ecosystem economics, equipment lifecycle, cost models, and service operations.
