terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage.
The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match.
By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products/power insurance to utilities, SMEs, and industrial players and create virtual storage capacity for PV and wind farms.
What we are hiring for - Your Role
We are seeking a Strategic Marketing Manager (m/f/d) to join our team and lead all of our marketing activities. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of building out terralayr’s marketing and communications efforts from the ground up. In this pivotal role, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, directly contributing to our commercial success and brand presence in the evolving energy landscape.
What you will work on - Your Responsibilities
  • Lead and Shape our Marketing Strategy: Define, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive marketing strategy that positions our flexibility software platform as a leader in the energy transition. This includes identifying target markets and personas, crafting core messaging, developing marketing channels like social, content and events, and ensuring consistent brand presence across all channels.
  • Marketing Leadership & Execution: Translate strategic goals into actionable marketing plans and lead their execution. You will oversee and coordinate all marketing activities, ensuring alignment with business development, sales, and leadership objectives.
  • Content & Communication: Drive the creation of high-quality marketing materials and develop content plans across channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Newsletter) that strengthen our brand narrative and increase engagement with our audiences – from customers to industry stakeholders.
  • Events & Conferences: Lead the organisation of company events and ensure strong representation at external conferences. From strategic positioning to operational execution, you will be responsible for ensuring our presence creates maximum visibility and business impact.
  • Cross-Functional and external Collaboration: Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Chief of Staff, and broader leadership team to align marketing activities with strategic objectives and manage our external PR agency and marketing service providers.
What we are looking for - Your Qualifications
  • Work experience: 3+ years of experience in Marketing or Business Development, preferably in the renewable energy industry. Experience in a high growth start-up is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required, focus on Marketing, Business, or a related subject is beneficial but not required.
  • Event Management: Experience in organising highly professional industry or company events
  • Digital marketing skills: Practical experience with digital marketing and lead generation, including content creation and use of digital tools.
  • Press Relations: Experience in press relations, or managing an external PR agency, is a strong plus.
  • Teamwork: Team player with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a highly structured, organized working style.
  • Initiative: Proactive, self-starter mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in ambiguity and remains calm under pressure in demanding environments.
  • Language skills: Fluency in English and German.
  • Location: Based in Berlin or London or willing to relocate.
